The panel

The juding panel comprises five judges – two nominated by the John Button Foundation, two from the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority and a rotating judge from each of the subject assocations (Victorian Association for the teaching of English – VATE; Social Education Victoria – SEV); and the History Teachers' Association of Victoria).

The John Button Foundation is again delighted that former Federal politicans, the Hon Dr David Kemp and the Hon Barry Jones, have accepted the invitation to judge the prize again in 2012.

Each year the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority will supply two judges; these will be the Curriculum Manager for English and the Curriculum Manager for Humanities and Social Sciences.

James Fiford, Executive Officer of Social Education Victoria, will help judge this year’s prize as the representative of subject associations. In addition to his role in Social Education, he teaches in the Master of Teaching program at the University Of Melbourne and works with schools as an educational consultant for teachers and learning programs. He is currently undertaking postgraduate studies in History.
